Gothic prom gowns: the look

September 19th, 2008 by admin

A gothic prom gown doesn’t even have to be black, it’s more the sensuality of the colours that count, so purple and dark red work fine, even pink if it is co-ordinated with black!

A gothic prom gown would probably have a tight fitted corset section, and flowing skirt, although it can work just as well with a short skirt.

There are lots of specialist sites online now where you can get prom dresses that are designed in the goth way, so you don’t have to rely on adapting old dresses, which used to be the norm.

Maybe you aren’t a fully fledged goth, but like the shape of the clothes - not the loose hanging casual stuff, but the more fitted shapes, and you could go for this shape and still keep the more classic colours you’d associate with prom dresses.

There really is a huge array of choice, so you can make your gothic prom gowns as you want - they also work for halloween and fancy dress parties!

Ever Thought Of Gothic Prom Gowns?

September 12th, 2008 by admin

It’s hardly surprising that the choice of prom dress is a trying one for girls, as the event is such an important one in their development, but more and more people are turning to gothic prom gowns - let’s take a quick look at why…

The gothic look is always popular with high schoolers - it’s a classic way of stating individuality, of not being one to follow the herd.
It does that job well, because even in today’s world where the goth look doesn’t shock anymore, people that go for that look will still have to run the gauntlet of abuse.

With the increase of goth look at school, it was inevitable that there would be a related rise in goth prom dresses.
After all, if a girl spends her school life wearing black, they are hardly going to want to turn up at the prom looking like they just stepped out of a Grease musical, are they!

More advantages of gothic prom gowns to note:

It is also a statement of individuality - it doesn’t mean you listen to Marilyn Manson, remember you are not wearing goth - but it shows you are prepared to stand out and be looked at, a very appealing quality.

This individual statement can also be one of the disadvantages of wearing gothic prom gowns - people will notice you alright, but not everyone will like it.
Maybe some people who have lower self esteem will react by directing some abuse your way.
It’s never likely to be anything of any note, but you should be aware of the possibility.

It may also be uncomfortable!
If you aren’t used to the tight fitted type of clothes, it could feel like a very long evening after quite a short while, so it’s a good idea to spend some time in the dress to get used to it.

As ever, the choice is down to the individual.
In this day and age, you dont have to be brave or extreme to wear goth, but you do need to be aware of the disadvantages to go along with the advantages!

August 28th, 2008 by admin

Whether it’s a costume party, halloween, or even a Prom gown, more and more girls are choosing to wear the goth style and gothic prom gowns.
It’s not surprising as there are many advantages to wearing gothic prom gowns, but there are also some disadvantages worth noting, so let’s take a quick look…

When we think about goth style, we tend to think of the music genre, with black clothes and hair white make up and heavy eyeliner, but in fact if we replace the word ‘goth’ with ‘gothic’, then we open up a whole new wardrobe.

The gothic look is a combination of elegance, romance and fantasy, so an advantage in wearing a gothic prom gown is that you can encapsulate these ideas to get a stunning look.
The tightly fitted mid-drifts with flowing skirts will get you noticed for sure, and people will be looking twice.

It also feels great - gothic uses a lot of silks and velvet, very smooth materials, lovely to feel against the body.

The gothic prom gowns look:

August 21st, 2008 by admin

The gothic prom gowns look can be intimidating, sexy, or playful, so you need to make sure that your hair, make up and choice of bag reflect your decision.

You could have your hair in a classic up and held ballgown style, and accessorise it with bats or spiderweb for a fun goth look.
A more serious gothic prom gowns look

would probably have black hair, straight down.

Make up wise, you have the obvious white pasty look, with heavy black eyeliner and lipstick, or you could go for the glittery look if you want to be more lighthearted.

One accessory that comes free is the expression on your face, and again this may well be the ultimate factor in the image that people take away of you.

If you want to make people smile, choose your shoes and accessories accordingly, and smile yourself!
These tips will help to match your goth choice of dress to perfection.

Gothic prom gowns and their accessories are beautiful and so will you be too if you choose to dress like it….so go for it girl!!

August 14th, 2008 by admin

Ok, so you’ve decided that you want to wear a gothic prom gown.
It may be for a prom gown, halloween or party, but once you’ve made the decision to go goth, you really have to pay attention to the shoes and accessories, and here’s why…

If you’ve never worn a gothic prom gown before, it’s an all over image.
In other words, you have to go the whole hog.
If you wear a gothic prom gown, you cannot wear any accessories that do not fit, otherwise you will be asking for jibes, and that’s obviously not the intention!

The good news, is that there’s a wide variety of styles that do work with goth, so you may be able to get away with, or customise what you already have.

On the shoes front, anything can work from high heel shoes, to thigh boots, to worker boots.
If you see someone in a rich coloured gown and worker boots, that’s goth!
The exact same gown could be worn with high heels and lace stockings.
Two very different images, made so by the accessories complimenting the same dress.
